Marketing Associate

Reports To: Executive Producer  

Supervises: Marketing Intern

Position Type: Part-time, Nonexempt 

POSITION SUMMARY  

The Marketing Associate is an important support role in achieving the marketing and communications objectives of the American Composers Orchestra. This individual will ensure that all outward facing communications via ACO’s website, social media channels, e-blasts, and press releases are compelling, timely, and accurate.

With commitment to artistry, creativity, community, and equity, ACO produces concerts, pre-college and college education programs, and emerging composer professional development to foster a community of creators, audience, performers, collaborators, and funders. ACO provides a flexible work environment for team members. ACO’s team works remotely. For this role, candidates are not required to be based in the New York City area. It is expected that the majority of work will be completed remotely. This is a part-time role with 10-12 hours of work per week. The successful candidate will arrange their schedule in coordination with their supervisor. Accommodations are readily available for team members with disabilities and neurodivergent team members. 

CANDIDATE PROFILE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES  

  • Create and manage calendar of communications tasks
  • Assist in branding, storytelling, messaging cohesion 
  • Lead press release review and publishing process
  • Manage design, print and mailing process for marketing & development including concert postcards, Gala invitations, and annual appeals and stewardship
  • Manage website updates including online Composer & Works Database
  • Draft, design, and send email campaigns
  • Use Canva to design graphics for web/email/socials
  • Edit concert programs
  • Manage social media accounts, including:
    • Create/post  new content
    • Edit audio/video media for posting on socials
    • Brainstorm social media campaign ideas
    • Monitor ACO’s active social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
    • Analyze analytics to gauge the success of campaigns
    • Assist in creating streams of content to serve ACO’s defined audience personas
  • Learn and becomes proficient on internal software systems
  • Assist in creating reports on engagement with social media, email, and website content

QUALIFICATIONS  

  • Candidates must have completed high school or GED. 
  • Some marketing, social media, and other communications or related non-profit experience.
  • Must be detail-oriented and highly organized, with excellent oral and written communications skills. 
  • A willingness to collaborate and take initiative.
  • Ability to interact professionally with board members, donors, colleagues, artists, and audience.
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically.
  • Capacity to complete multiple projects on tight deadlines, while maintaining a high-level attention to detail.
  • Familiarity with the New Music scene is an asset.  
  • Proficiency in Google Suite is an asset 
  • Self-directed, with a strong work ethic and collaborative skills.  

HOURS & COMPENSATION 

  • $23/hour
  • 10-12 hours per week
