Schedule: 6–12 hours/week | 12–14 weeks (March–June)
Compensation: $15/hour
Location: Remote (Candidates do not need to be based in the NYC area)
Reporting to: Director of Institutional Giving
Position Overview
American Composers Orchestra (ACO) seeks an Institutional Giving Intern interested in gaining hands-on experience in the nonprofit arts sector. This role offers the opportunity to gain experience in foundation and government grant writing, as well as corporate sponsorship, within a highly collaborative environment. The intern will work closely with the Director of Institutional Giving to support the institutional fundraising lifecycle.
Responsibilities
- Research: Conduct prospect research to identify new funding opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and corporations.
- Coordination: Assist with scheduling meetings with program officers and stakeholders.
- Grant Preparation: Organize source materials and assist in developing grant support documents (formatting proposal supplements).
- Media Management: Organize artistic work samples, including photographs, audio, and video files/links for submission.
- Stewardship: Assist in preparing grant acknowledgments and reports for current funders.
- Administration: Assist with maintaining internal record-keeping and archiving proposal content for future use.
Qualifications
- Strong interest in arts administration, music, or nonprofit development.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Close attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Google Workspace.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
