David Olan
David Olan is professor of music at Baruch College and at the Graduate Center of CUNY, where he coordinates the doctoral program in musical composition. He has composed orchestral, chamber, vocal, and electronic music that has been performed widely in the U. S., Europe, and Japan. He has been commissioned by such organizations as the American Composers Orchestra, Parnassus, the New Jersey Percussion Ensemble, and the New Music Consort. Among his awards are Guggenheim, NEA, CAPS, and NYFA Fellowships, and a commission from the Serge Koussevitsky Foundation in the Library of Congress. His work is recorded on the CRI, New World, and OWL labels. He also is president of Composer Recordings Inc., the contemporary music label. His Symphony, commissioned by the American Composers Orchestra, reflects his work with ''the electronic medium,'' according to the composer's program notes.
