Alexander Reams

Born in Long Beach, California, Alexander Curtis Reams (b. 2002) is an emerging composer whose music bridges vivid storytelling with a deep sense of cultural and emotional resonance. He has arranged music for vocal jazz groups Pacific Standard Time and Jazz n’ Tonic at California State University, Long Beach, as well as composed for the Symphony Orchestra and Symphonic Winds at Biola University. Outside of school, he has been commissioned to compose and arrange music for local artists in Southern California, encompassing a wide range of genres. And through his solo and collaborative electro-acoustic works, Reams’s music spans many different styles, media, and influences, giving him a musical voice that is uniquely his own.

Reams believes that music can unify and build communities. This volunteerism has included teaching music production to students in grades 3-12 for the YMCA of Greater Long Beach, Community Development Branch. He is an on-campus member of Mu Phi Epsilon and performs with the Alwani Middle Eastern Orchestra.

Alexander Reams’s music does not merely tell stories—it breathes life into them, shaping soundscapes that captivate the imagination and resonate with the soul.

He is currently finishing his M.M. in Music Composition from California State University, Long Beach, and holds bachelor’s degrees from Biola University in music composition and computer science. His mentors include Dr. Elliot Bark, Dr. Robert Denham, Dr. Gerhard Guter, Dr. Raymond Torres-Santos, and Dr. Robin Bargar.
