Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute Readings at Miller Theatre, Columbia University
Seven Works Unveiled June 3rd & 4th

JCOI logoThe JCOI New Music Readings will take place at Columbia University’s Miller Theatre, with mentor composers George Lewis, Anne LeBaron, and Paul Chihara, conducted by Gil Rose. Featured composers are Jennifer Bellor, José Beviá, Courtney Bryan, Ingrid Laubrock, Andy Milne, Richard Sussman, and Sumi Tonooka. The Readings will include an open rehearsal on Monday, June 3 at 10am, and a run-through performance on Tuesday, June 4 at 7:30pm. Both events are free and open to the public. Reservations suggested.

Jazz Composers Orchestra Institute Expands to
Buffalo Philharmonic & La Jolla Symphony
New Works for Orchestra by Seventeen Selected Jazz Composers

Jazz Composers Orchestra InstiituteACO and The Center for Jazz Studies at Columbia University, in cooperation with EarShot, the National Orchestra Composition Discovery Network, will present the second JCOI Readings in 2013. Three orchestras - the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra (April 23 & 24), ACO (June 3 & 4), and La Jolla Symphony & Chorus (September 19 & 20) - will workshop, rehearse, and give public readings of new works for symphony orchestra written by seventeen jazz composers.

Peter Fahey Wins 2012 Underwood Composer Commission

2009-10 Season ACOPeter Fahey has been named the recipient of the 2012 Underwood Emerging Composer Commission, an award that includes a $15,000 prize and a future performance by ACO at Carnegie Hall.
