Clyne.Superdraw.OttACO announces CoLABoratory: Playing it UNsafe, a research and development laboratory for the creation, development, work-shopping, and performance of experimental new music by American composers. The program includes an extended series of public workshop/readings during the 2012-13 season, culminating in performance in Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall on Friday, April 5, 2013, conducted by ACO music director George Manahan. Robert Beaser and Derek Bermel, as well as Morton Subotnick, serve as mentor-composers.

EarShot San Diego Readings
April 19-20

EarShot, the National Composition Discovery Network and the San Diego Symphony announce their first New Music Readings, a professional development program for emerging composers. It will include two reading sessions with the orchestra, workshops with mentor composers Rand Steiger, Robert Beaser and John Corigliano. Air travel and accommodations are provided. Submission receipt deadline: February 3, 2012

Prangcharoen Wins Underwood Commission

Narong Prangcharoen, Underwood CommissioneeNarong Prangcharoen has been awarded the 2011 Underwood Emerging Composers Commission. Narong wowed both the audience and the mentor composers with his winning work Pubbanimitta ("Foreboding"). Narong receives a $15,000 prize to compose a new work to be premiered by ACO next season.
